Maandag 22 en 29 mei onderzocht Antoinette Hertsenberg de werkloosheid onder vijftigplussers in Tros Radar Extra. Hierin kwam o.a. Tof Thissen aan het woord, de hoogste baas van het UWV.
Het percentage werkloosheid bij 50-plussers is aanzienlijk, bij 55-plussers nog hoger. In Finland, een land met hetzelfde probleem, wordt nu geëxperimen-teerd met een basisinkomen. Zou zo’n vast bedrag per maand – zonder plichten en regels – een oplossing kunnen zijn voor de problemen van de werkzoekende 55-plussers?
Hertsenberg praat over de knelpunten in ons stelsel en over mogelijke oplos-singen. Ze gaat in gesprek met ondernemer Annemarie van Gaal, historicus Rutger Bregman, deskundige inzake basisinkomen Guy Standing en hoogle-raar arbeidsmarkt Ton Wilthagen.
